Anne Klein
The ferocity with which Anne Klein hit the fashion scene matches that of her astrological sign and now company logo, the Lion. As the first designer to incorporate leather into chic fashion items, Anne Klein received the Nieman Marcus award twice in her career. Klein saw the versatile and softer possibilities of all items rugged, beginning with cropped & tailored leather coats and eventually having the idea to market sports apparel as separates to be paired with feminine items.
Today the Anne Klein collection maintains the fusion of utility and undeniable femininity in all its items, including the shoes. Each slender shoe in the AK sports collection has a curve to highlight the seductive arch of a woman’s foot. Even the sling back wedge, which clearly won’t be found on the tennis court, has fresh white laces and a supportive, springy platform giving the highest of heels a sporty look. Each heel—sandal, pump or sling back—maintains the perfect balance between the back and front sole. While six inch stilettos with a 90 degree angle to the front toes look great on models, most women have more walking to do than just to the bottom of the runway. But the snake print peep toes with the occasional bronzed scale popping out, the surprisingly sharply colored straps on the seemingly simple office pumps, and the bold buckles engulfing the vamp of the Mary Janes are a far cry from dull. The comfort is for an ordinary day, the details in the design are a little extra ordinary.
While most of the AK Anne Klein shoes incorporate a little modernity into time tested styles, the Boots remain simple and timeless—which is a little hard to find with all the buckles and diamonds winding up most boots today. Boots are an investment and takes up a good half of your leg.
