Charles David
Charles David did a brave thing opening up shop on Melrose between Betsey Johnson and Koala Blue, and then trying to marry comfort with style in a town where they say only looks matter. But Charles knew there were thousands of women running around the streets of Hollywood, holding in their whimpering from their blisters and poorly executed arches, until finally limping in their front door at night. And he must have been right, since his line of footwear, agreeable to the taste and comfort of any woman, sky rocketed into 25 retail stores and 500 boutiques and department stores nationwide.
And why not? Any woman wanting to add a good four vertical inches to her frame, or just wanting to have gorgeous shoes with innovative designs, but doesn’t want to break her back or an ankle will be happy with a pair of Charles David shoes. Charles David makes cutting-edge styles you just won’t find anywhere else, like his Tweet shoe—not quite a wedge, not quite a platform, but both really. A leather heel so chunky that it almost connects to the front of the shoe, leaving the tinyest gap in between, connects to a fabric platform. Then the leather picks up again on the vamp of the shoe, with a thick, sandal like vamp, almost covered enough to be a closed shoe, but not quite. Another radical look is the “Buffy” heel, a fusion of Penny Loafer, classic pumps and even, can you believe it, athletic shoe with it’s intricate tread to grip slipper surfaces. This
