Unlisted
The innovation and creativity that goes into each shoe from Kennth Cole’s Unlisted line is reminiscent of the creative-mindedness used to start the company and achieve overnight success. Young entrepreneur Kenneth Cole had a dream to design shoes but little money to back it up, so he designed and created a collection of shoes in Europe for a low price and came back to America to try and sell them. His main concern was whether or not he would have success in selling them fast enough before he ran out of money. He knew that advertising his shoes in Midtown Manhattan would get him the exposure he needed to become a hit, but renting a showroom would cost too much. So instead, he borrowed a truck from his friend and asked the mayor for permission to park it in Midtown Manhattan. He was told that only movie production companies were given permission to park there, so the next day Mr. Cole came up with a simple solution and changed his company’s name from Kenneth Cole, Inc. to Kenneth Cole Productions, Inc. He parked his truck on the day of a huge shoe show, complete with cameras and actresses modeling their shoes, creating a huge scene for curious shoppers to take a peak at. Within two and a half days, Cole sold forty thousand shoes, not stopping until the last pair was sold. Today the company has kept the name Kenneth Cole Productions, Inc. as a reminder of the creativity and innovation used to achieve their success. Since this success, Kenneth Cole has been able to create a new line of fashion-forward and trend-setting line of shoes called Unlisted that has had a notable impact on the fashion world. Carrying a wide selection of men’s and women’s shoes, Unlisted offers high quality sandals, boots, dress shoes, casual shoes, pumps and more to fit any occasion.
