Vince Camuto
Co-founder of Nine West and footwear designer for BCBGMaxazria, Banana Republic, and Lucky Brand, Vince Camuto’s autograph footwear line is really the crème of the crop to which he has fed all his acquired skill and knowledge since 1978.
Working with multiple companies on their women’s footwear lines, Vince Camuto learned a lot about what women want. And you can see this insight come through full force in his personal line. Vince’s shoes are breathtaking. Each pair is surprising, making you say—“I never would have thought of that. But now I want it!” You are left wanting nothing from the design of any Vince Camuto shoe. Each pair is highly creative and visionary, like the “Angie”, with thick leather straps over the vamp of the foot, an even thicker set of straps creating a sort of cage around the sides of the upper part of the foot, and within that cage, thin, delicate straps crossing over and looping through at the sides along the top, with dramatic, chunky knots holding them in place. The design looks as intricate and well thought out as it sounds. As do every pair of these gorgeous shoes.
Vince plays a lot with openings and cut outs. But he does so flawlessly. The “Fame” begins with the traditional Pump shape, but has tiny cut out arches all along the sides of the feet, bolted onto the heel by gold studs along the top, outer edge of the foot bed. Camuto even makes this industrial-inspired shoe surprisingly sexy.
You do need a steady ankle to survive in a pair of Vince Camutos. But they are very, very worth the risk. His four and three quarter inch blank patent “Ava” pump is almost plain—almost. But you have never seen such a shiny patent finish. You can check out your own reflection in these babies. And with a perfectly alluring round toe that Betty Boop would admire, and rich gold inner sole, you’ll thank the reflection staring back at you.
